Getting back in the gaaame… Well, not quite. Only a few gigs, a promo shoot and some posters later here’s a blog post.

Prints, prints, prints… I’ve decided to make an A3 portfolio of my photos and some design work. Everything looks so much nicer printed A3. At the moment I’m just doing these in Uni on 220gsm paper. Nice n cheap at £1.20 in uni.

When I rebuild my site soon, thinking about selling some prints!

Left to Right:
Dragonforce – CIA, PABH – Clwb, Joy Formidable – Square Fest, Nine Inch Nails – MEN Manchester, Janes Addiction – MEN Manchester, Exit International 2009, Spain 2009, Exit International (old), Trivium – CIA, ATDV EP Poster, Friends Electric Poster, Busker in Cardiff.

Prints...

Behind The Line
Made these very young lads a myspace layout and CD layout to accompany it! They’re only just recording songs and finding gigs.

Simple design.

Attack! Attack!
It’s been too long since I’ve covered Attack Attack. Too long! This was a more intimate show downstairs in Clwb Ifor Bach. First gig I covered since breaking my big toe too so I couldn’t be too adventurous around all the younger kids jumping around. Also meant I was stuck in the corner to take photos! Look forward to catching them again soon.

Support from As We Climb. There’s always something nice about ‘catch flash’.

Gun’s Posters

With Uni work I really, really didn’t have time to think about doing posters within a day so here’s just quick ones I managed to do.

The Guns - Barfly

Soundscape

So I decided to give Soundscape a proper face lift and create a simple font that wasn’t a bloody default font we were using.

We know the font used is slightly sci-fi, but we’re really all a bunch of nerds anyway! It’s Bold, Clean, Pointy, Better than default. The site is a wordpress blog template that I’ve gone and completely edited and re-arranged. Then I’ve done some business cards and stickers to match the site.

We have a new issue out anyway. Go check it out! A lot of us put hard work into doing this unpaid!

InMe

Covered InMe, another band I haven’t seen for a long long time. They were a hell of a lot heavier than I remember. Nice crowd, a lot of fan girls meant I couldn’t really get many and again, from a corner. I snapped better photos of the support band Fei Comodo! That and Barfly’s lighting always sucks. Even when they add more lights it still somehow makes it worse.

Busking With Alex

Spent part of the (immensely hot day) following The Milk team promoting around Cardiff town. Alex pretty much spent most the time jamming out on guitar to people who cared to listen.

I’ve written about it here – www.soundscapemagazine.com/promoting-the-milk/

One Inch Tall

Part of my Uni project. Just some snippets of pages.
We were given a poem to interpret into a book or animation. Decided very last minute to do a comic book style book.

Used this fella as the main character – www.flickr.com/photos/nadineballantyne/4532166304/

You can see my crappy book here – www.nadineballantyne.com/book.html

Elicia Jones
Lastly, Went down to a studio in Cardiff Bay to shoot some snaps of solo singer Elicia Jones. She’s new and about to record some of her first material soon!

Well I managed to do nothing for the last 2 weeks off uni then had a weekend of work. Which was fun ‘cos 1. I got to work with some interesting bands and 2. It kept me out of my overdraft.

Missdalogik
You should of heard of Sound Space Studios by now… Well one of the guys that runs it asked me to take some shots before their gig where the studios is. Just a shame there’s not much around the industrial estate where it’s at.

Strobist for these shots:
Canon 430EX through umbrella left – 1/2 power
Vivitar 285HV through umbrella right – 1/2 power

Christmas holidays… Not quite. Think I’ve done my fair share of not sitting on my ass all day playing Call of Duty 6 (despite how awesome it is).

My friend who used to play in The 5150′s has a new band called The Last To Fall. We descended to some pizza basement and shot away.
By far the funniest bloody shoot I’ve had in a long time, not picture funny just crude and belly aching jokes funny!

I’m doing their myspace so be sure to check them out when i post it up after Christmas!
