A while back I managed to kill off my wireless flash equipment so I thought I’d treat myself to some new ones, but as a typical poor student I can’t go splashing out on Pocket Wizards as lovely as they look. Thought I’d write a little test review on them even though they’re pretty old, I just want to show some photographer friends that just because they’re cheap doesn’t exempt them from actually being bloody good.

Sorry for a lack of update with photos or anything really…

I should of covered a fair few gigs over the last week, some bloody interesting ones too, but thanks to my clumsiness I’ve gone and broken my big toe. Pain in the ass really ‘cos they’ve stuck me on crutches which means no photographing gigs for a while. I may go mad…

The only thing I’m doing at the moment are a few A2 doodles, half way through a Slash cube, my final Uni project and working on the May release of Soundscape Magazine! Sweet stuff.

Here’s the last gig I covered, Grab Promotions – Tiger Please, The Muscle Club, Exit International, Blitz Kids @ Clwb Ifor Bach. More photos of the concert can be seen here – http://www.nadineballantyne.com/gallery/main.php/v/2010_live_gallery/tigerplease/blitzkids/

Mixed gig, well for my taste haha. Mixed shooting as well. Clwbs lights you have to work out the timing when the lovely white/orange light actually lights part of the stage up. Let’s just say some of the non flash shots are ISO 5000.

Well I managed to do nothing for the last 2 weeks off uni then had a weekend of work. Which was fun ‘cos 1. I got to work with some interesting bands and 2. It kept me out of my overdraft.

You should of heard of Sound Space Studios by now… Well one of the guys that runs it asked me to take some shots before their gig where the studios is. Just a shame there’s not much around the industrial estate where it’s at.

Strobist for these shots:
Canon 430EX through umbrella left – 1/2 power
Vivitar 285HV through umbrella right – 1/2 power
